What is the purpose of this project?

The purpose of this project is to remove and replace the existing deteriorated bridge, originally constructed in 1967.

Will construction continue through the winter?

It is anticipated that the Contractor will complete this project in Summer of 2025.

Will construction impact access to local businesses?

Local traffic only will be permitted from Appley Avenue/Second Street to the full closure, and from St. Mary’s Road to the full closure.  It is anticipated that Lake Minear parking, Des Plaines River Trail path, and all residential driveways and side streets will be accessible throughout the construction duration, however the LCFPD Canoe Launch parking lot will be closed.

Will our refuse collection and mail service be interrupted?

No. The project team has contacted LRS Waste Management Services, USPS, and School Districts 68, 70, 128, regarding the improvements and the detour route.

Will any roads be closed during construction?

Oak Spring Road will be closed at the bridge over the Des Plaines River, during the construction operations. Please drive carefully through the construction work zone and follow the applicable temporary signs.

Is the Contractor willing to perform private work on my property?

The Contractor is not available nor willing to complete private work outside of the right-of-way. 

Will my water service ever be disrupted?

No, there are no plans to work on the water system as part of this project.

Will the construction noise wake me up?

In accordance with Libertyville Township Road District policies, daily working hours for the construction project are from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday and 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. There is currently no work anticipated on Sundays or legal, observed Holidays.

Will I ever be restricted access to my driveway or entrance?

The Contractor is not anticipating restricting access to any driveways or entrances.
