Retaining Wall and Precast Beam Preparation Progress

Week in Review: Accomplishments and Progress

This past week, the contractor completed driving the soldier piles for the retaining walls on both the north and south sides of Oak Spring Road west of the river. Excavation work was conducted for the retaining wall west of the river on the north side and for the retaining wall east of the river on the north side of Oak Spring Road. Lagging installation was completed for the retaining walls west of the river on both sides and for the retaining wall east of the river on the north side. Wall drains were installed for the retaining wall east of the river on the north side and the retaining wall west of the river on the south side. Additionally, the contractor demobilized the crane on the east side of the river.

Looking Ahead: Planned Activities

In the upcoming week, the contractor anticipates completing the installation of lagging and wall drains for the retaining walls. Preparations will continue for bridge construction, with the crane being mobilized to set the precast beams onto the bridge. Precast beams are expected to be delivered to the east side of the bridge, where the contractor plans to begin setting them in place.

Community Impact: What to Expect

With the road closure now in effect, residents should be aware that Oak Spring Road from east of the Des Plaines River Trail to west of Hawthorn Lane is closed to traffic for the duration of the project. This closure is necessary to ensure the safety of both the workers and the public. Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated as work to improve the community’s infrastructure continues. Residents are encouraged to stay informed about the project’s progress and any anticipated changes in traffic patterns.
